Paris, France – Tofane Global, the leading international communications solutions group celebrating its fifth anniversary, has won the Best Strategic Acquisition of the Year award at the 19th edition of the Global Carrier Awards (GCAs).
In addition, Tofane Global’s subsidiary iBASIS took home two accolades for Best Anti-Fraud Innovation and Best IoT Initiative.
With 35 categories, the Global Carrier Awards are the most prestigious program in wholesale telecoms and connectivity. A panel of 31 judges recognizes the best and most innovative players by region, specialty, and industry sector. Head judge Carl Roberts expressed gratitude for the record-breaking 324 submissions received, extending congratulations to the winners and recognizing the industry for its collective achievements.
Best Strategic Acquisition
Tofane Global’s acquisition of DIMOCO Messaging, a leading global SMS aggregator, and subsequent integration into iBASIS follows the impressive acquisition of six other businesses over the past five years: iBASIS, Altice Europe N.V., SFR, MEO (former Portugal Telecom), NOS, and Simfony.
The addition of DIMOCO Messaging has enhanced iBASIS’s carrier-grade network infrastructure by adding more than 100 direct connections to mobile operators worldwide, ensuring the highest standards of speed and reliability for message termination.
It has significantly accelerated iBASIS’s growth and doubled mobile services revenues to reach 20% of the company’s total revenues. The acquisition also gives direct access to the enterprise market segment where DIMOCO Messaging has an established sales force to serve large financial institutions, leveraging new SMS Application Program Interfaces (APIs) for system integration, rapid onboarding, and campaign deployment.
Tofane Global has since consolidated its messaging businesses under the iBASIS brand
Best Anti‑Fraud Innovation
iBASIS was recognized for its Revenue at Risk Model, which enables global operators to continuously identify, measure, and address specific exposures to risk with over 70 monitored and tracked vulnerability control points.
Best IoT Initiative
iBASIS was awarded for demonstrating the feasibility and explosive potential of iSIM by becoming the first to provide proven IoT connectivity on iSIM across its Global Access for Things™ industry-leading coverage.
“Winning Best Strategic Acquisition, Anti-Fraud Innovation, and Internet-of-Things Initiative awards at the Global Capacity Ceremony in an intense competition is an honor. It is the recognition from peers of our transformation toward an operator of fast growing communication services,” said Alexandre Pébereau, CEO and Founder.
This is the third time in five years that Tofane has picked up the Best Strategic Acquisition accolade: in 2019, for the acquisitions of SFR ICS from the Altice Group and iBASIS from Royal KPN; in 2020 for Best Strategic Acquisition for NOS International Carrier Services.
“I want to first thank our teams. These wins acknowledge your dedication and achievements. Thank you also to our customers and partners who motivate us to enable operators and digital players worldwide to better perform and faster transform,” he added.
“Congratulations to all the nominees and to the very worthy winners of our 19th Global Carrier Awards. We congratulate iBASIS and Tofane Global on winning the Best Anti-Fraud Innovation, Best IoT Initiative, and Best Strategic Acquisition awards, which underscores the high benchmark the company has achieved in the digital infrastructure space,” stated Rosalind Irving, CEO of Capacity Media.
This year’s event, held during Capacity Europe in London, U.K., witnessed an impressive attendance of over 420 industry professionals, offering a splendid evening celebrating the pinnacles of the global connectivity industry.
